postheadericon Persistence……………………….

You have to tell the Universe every day what is you want. Be persistent. Use positive present tense I statements. Then thank the Universe as if you already have it. Gratitude Rocks!!!

postheadericon 2012 The Year of Transformation………

Well, 2012 is finally here at last, has the world ended yet? All the signs are there, war all over, economic collapse looms large, politics have taken a horrible turn for the worse here in the US. Fear is the one common denominator of all these issues. It’s a giant problem for many of us, and it seems it is only getting worse daily. The news is all doom, gloom, sarcasm , hate, and hypocrisy.
Watching all the news about the GOP presidential primaries has brought up a swirling miasma of rage and anger from the core of my being. I feel the wave of fear generated from the rhetoric. I read the bigoted hate filled posts both on the right and the left, and then when I find myself in agreement with someone’s mindless post I feel kinda sick to my stomach. The power of love (which I believe in strongly) seems to be a tiny whisper drowned out by the roaring maelstrom of blame and hate.
Love is the most powerful force in the universe. I have been taught this since grade school, which is ironic since this theory was served up by very superstitious people, who fed it to us along with liberal doses of fear and hate. Still, I believe that love is more powerful than hate, and I work to manifest love in everything I do. Yet, it is very slow going, because hate and anger are very quick, and love seems to take much longer to be effective.
The entire planet is going through major shifts right now and most people are feeling these shifts in a big way. The feelings these shifts bring up are often pretty brutal, but they need to arise in us before we can release them. I have not been enjoying the deep seated rage and anger that is coming up in my system right now, but I am tremendously grateful that these shadow aspects of myself are showing themselves to me so I can work on them.
Hate, rage, and fear are not paths to love and abundance. Lead to the dark side they will.
More soon………

postheadericon Beginners………………….Ira Glass

This is a tremendous quote.  I have been delivering a version of this quote to many aspiring poets and singers I know, for years.   This quote is very important for anyone starting off on a new venture, ANY new venture whether artistic, or commercialAs I discussed this quote with a colleague today I thought of it in terms of my  past, failed, musical career.  As I re-read it again now I take heart in its message for me as I venture into my web career.

“NOBODY tells this to people who are beginners.  I wish someone had told me.  All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste.  But there is a gap.  For the first couple of years you make stuff, it’s just not that good.  It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not.  But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer.  And your taste is why your work disappoints you.  A lot of people never get past this phase,  they quit.  Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this.  We know that our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have.  We ALL go through this.  And if you are just starting out or are still in this phase, you gotta know that it’s normal, and the most important thing you can do is a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you finish one piece.  I is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as you ambitions.  and  it took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met.  It’s gonna take awhile.  It’s normal to take awhile.  You just gotta fight your way through.”

postheadericon The Art of The Gratitude List

The Gratitude List

There’s a ton of information out there about gratitude lists. Experts agree that making gratitude a daily practice is the key boosting your attractor factor. I’ve been playing around with the list concept for a couple of years and I’m strongly convinced of the POWER of gratitude.

There are many proponents who’ll tell you to write down 10 things that you’re grateful for everyday.  I’ve been using gratitude lists as a tool to quiet my mind chatter for 3+ years and I have made it a daily practice.  But here’s what I’ve found: I have Attention Deficit Disorder, so 10 things is often too big a number for me to manage.  I need to make things easier for myself, or I just won’t do it at all.

I use gratitude lists when my mind is heading down a bad road.  I’ve gotten to the point where I can feel very quickly when a positive shift has taken place.  A short, 3 item gratitude list is usually enough for me to elevate my mood.  I mean, why complicate things?

Here’s another interesting concept, if your list is short enough, it never has to change!  Many experts feel that to keep things fresh, you need to insert new items into your list periodically.  Not true.  If what you are after is a better mood, quickly, then it really doesn’t matter if the 5 (or 3, or 10) things on your list are the same as yesterday’s, as long as the gratitude is real.

There are days when making a 10 item gratitude list is really easy, as the gratitude just seems to ooze from every pore. Other days, making a 3 item list can seem like an enormous challenge.  For days like this I’ve come up with a short list of stand by plug-ins.  These are items that just about anyone could feel grateful about.  For me, the #1 item on my gratitude list is always my wife Liz (awwwwww).  The second item is usually my truck, though not always.  Telling your vehicle that you love it every day is a good way to lower your mechanic’s bills.  May sound crazy but your vehicle WILL hear you and respond accordingly.

So, say I am having a difficult day and finding item number 3 is tough.  Maybe I’m mad at my wife and my truck broke down so my regulars are off the list for today.  HELP!  Dun DA Naaaah!!  Here is where your stand by plug-ins come into play.  Here is a list of things that most people could put on their list.   Clean tap water, clothes on their backs, a roof over their head.

My favorite plug in is “I am grateful for my shoelaces.” Kinda silly, kinda Zen, but really where would we be without them? With just a little bit of thought you should be able to come up with a stable list of stand by plug-ins.

You can see that I’ve given this concept a great deal of thought.  It’s true because gratitude is not only an important virtue, it’s also a very effective mood elevation tool that you can whip out of your tool belt at a moment’s notice.

Gratitude is a subject that I find to be both simple and complex all at the same time. This paradox makes it easy to understand and fun to play with. Yet it has a depth that makes it interesting for you to explore for a long time to come. We’d love to hear you comments on how you’ve made gratitude work for you.

I am very grateful to my wife Liz for editing this post.

postheadericon A Testimonial for James Dempsey~Shaman

Hip problem and healing process, 2010 ` 2011 by Ray Iasiello

It began a year ago ~  with bad posture , stress , always kneeling to the right side

when using my laptop often late @ night

+ the fact that my hips have always been ultra flexible

I got some helpful results from ‘tong ren’ an energy healing modality that is offered @ E Shan Tang in Allston

But didn’t really do it past a certain point

My acupuncturist of choice retired and I was not able to find an acupuncturist I could afford.

I finally replenished supplements I take regularly incl non-acidic vitamin C, fish oil, ubiquinol

Then

The husband of my friend Liz Tobin, invited me to have a free ‘chakra cleaning session’

James ( Dempsey ) contractor, rock musician ( he likes ‘Le Noise’ ), painter has been told by his spirit guides that this is a way he can be of service to others. http://thegratitudemall.com/

He trained in Reiki and his guides also have provided him training

So ~ he says that the hips are also the location of  chakras related to the pelvic chakra

He diagnosed that my right hip was leaking energy

The session which took less than an hour cleaned out all of my chakras

He said he had to perform a surgery on my right hip for which he used a quartz crystal

Right after the session which will be 7 days as of tomorrow, Friday ~

Almost all of the pain has disappeared.

For a couple of days I taped my own quartz crystal @ that point

Who knows ?

What I do know is

that my hip is 98% healed since that session

and I am continuing to be mindful of it.

@ present during this damp chilly month of May ~

it feels as though it ‘s diminishing  into a memory , no longer ‘present’ .

postheadericon And So A New Life Begins. A poem by James Dempsey

And so a new life begins, from the ashes of the past ones

amid the clamour and crunch and grind

the fragile fledgling flies forth…..

This new life emerges from the crucible of force

perhaps with lessons learned, but more likely with none but an empty slate.

and so a new life begins…..

We can thank the light of love, and faith, and hope, and promise,

amid the clamour, and crunch, and grind, for a fresh blank page upon which to paint a dream.

and so a new life begins…..

postheadericon What is Spiritual Healing? By Rebecca Bennett and Skye Evans

Spiritual healing can involve the body, mind, and spirit and often goes beyond our human intelligence. Spiritual healing is recognition of a higher power beyond our own limits. We have an acceptance and a relationship with a Higher Power, or God/Source that gives us inspiration, security, peace, joy, and spiritual guidance. Spiritual people believe the body, mind, and spirit should work together and be in harmony for good physical and emotional health.

Spiritual healing can be channeled from a human source that is sometimes called a healer. A healer will usually put their hands on the patient and the healing energy is transferred. The healer is not the one who creates the healing power; it is God or another Higher Power. Healing power is channeled through the healer’s hands that are laid on the part of the body that is in need of healing. It could be a mental or emotional problem or it could be a physical problem such as a stiff knee. You do not need to have a “healer” to be spiritually healed. It is possible to tap into your inner spirituality and pray for your own needs.

Spiritual healers agree the energy for divine healing comes from an invisible, external, and intelligent source. This healing source is available to all who need it. Spiritual healers believe there is a connection between the body, mind, and spirit and if they are not working together it is impossible to maintain positive health. Many believe that sickness will often start in the mind or in the spirit. This is where spiritual healing begins.

New Age is a term that includes spiritual healing, awareness of mind and body and the connection between the two. New Age is a loose term that is identified with the healing movement and self-improvement programs. Americans are hungry for a divine force to believe in and alternative health care solutions. Many are eager for a connection and experience with a Higher Power. The connections of random events, mysterious coincidences, and the evidence of synchronistic events give a person a chance to grow and help break the cycles of poverty and depression. This connection to a Supreme Being will help people regardless of their income or intelligence.

Spirituality is not the same as religion. Religions involve doctrines and belief systems and humanity’s relationship with God. Spirituality is when there is a connection between a human and a higher power, something stronger than the human being and the order of the universe. God is the term used most often in the Western culture but there are other names credited to this Higher Power, too many to try to list. Many will receive inspiration from a walk in nature, watching a beautiful sunset, or seeing the precious smile of a child. Studies report that Americans will spend over one and a half billion dollars on books about spirituality and religion. The report states that over 44 million Americans identify with spiritual healing and almost half of all Americans have had alternative health care.

I felt bereft for many years after rejecting my Catholic upbringing.  They just didn’t really get it, and I spent a long time seeking an alternative.  My current views on spirituality are a unique mash-up of ideas borrowed from many traditions.  I believe that God doesn’t really care how you believe in him. She also has a million names, and all of them are good onesThere are plenty of religions out there willing to call anyone one who doesn’t believe “properly” as destined to burn in hell. That is fear based thinking, and is just another way of pushing hate.  Truly spiritual people usually won’t fall for this nonsense.  When it comes to spirituality, even religion, live and let live is a good golden rule.
